Backpacking Calamities
Chapter 2: Do You Like Girls?

We had arrived in LA a couple of nights ago and had spent the days sunning by the beach and cruising around the sites. We got back to our motel and were pondering what to do that evening. The previous night we had taken a walk to try and find some night-life to no avail. You see the guys that had originally booked the motel chose it due to its close proximity to Disneyland. This has the distinct downside of being predominantly a family area full of nothing but hotels and dinners. Still, undeterred one of the guys decided to ask the fella at the reception for some suggestions, while the rest of us waited outside enjoying the late afternoon sun. He came out shortly after proclaiming he had directions to a bar and had booked a taxi.

Half an hour later we were getting in the back of the taxi. The driver asks where we’re heading. My mate replies ‘Californian Girls’. Now I don’t know about the other two, but alarm bells were ringing about just what sort of place we were heading for. So I asked him exactly what did he say to the guy at reception. He tells us he inquired where we could find some pool tables and beer. The guy had then asked ‘Do you like girls?’ to which my mate (Probably quite defensively) had of course said ‘Well yeah’. Well it was too late now, so we waited in the cab to see what sort of bar was in store for us.

Sure enough, as we were dropped off outside and entered the place, we quickly realised it was a lap dancing club. However we were surprised to find the reception guy had been true to his word, and found several pool tables in the corner, and fairly cheap beer available. As to what went on the rest of the night, I’ll leave that for another blog entry.
